三國時代土器재임방법에 대한 檢討

AStudy on the Method of Piling up Potteries during firing in a Kiln in Three-Kingdoms Period: Focusing on the Method of Piling up Early-style Dojil Potteries and its Changes

토기에 대한 연구는 토기자체에 세밀한 檢討가 필요하다. 특히 土器表面에 남겨진 다양한 흔적에 대한 관찰은 토기가 어떻게 成形되고 燒成되었는지를 복원하는 직접적인 증거로 활용할 수 있다. 이 논문은 소위‘古式陶質土器段階’에 해당하는 咸安于巨里土器가마에서 출토된 토기의 표면관찰을 통하여 于巨里가마의 토기재임방법을 복원하고 咸安地域新式陶質土器段階의 재임방법과 다른 영남지방의 陶質土器재임방법의 相似性, 相異性에 대해 검토하였다. 陶質土器재임방법은 크게 3가지로 구분하였다. 古式陶質土器段階함안지역은 短頸壺를 重疊하여 橫置燒成하는 특징이 있으며, 다른 지역이 短頸壺를 重疊하지 않고 定置燒成하는 것과 차이를 보인다. 이에 비해 新式陶質土器段階에는 전 영남지방이 高杯를 비롯한 小形土器를 重疊하고 短頸壺를 定置燒成하는 재임방법으로 변하게 된다. 이러한 변화의 원인은 단순히 燒成技術의 발전에 의한 것만은 아니며, 기종별 토기수요의 증감과 같은 사회적 상황 변화에 따라 토기제작 공인의 생산의도가 바뀌었고, 이를 생산방법에 적극 반영한 결과로 판단된다.

A pottery’s study has to be examined on the basis of a detailed analysis of potteries. Especially the examination of various traces on potteries gives us important data about how to make potteries. This study restores the method of piling up potteries through the surface observation of potteries discovered from the kiln at Ugeo-ri, Haman in Early-style Dojil pottery. Moreover, it examines the difference in the methods of piling up potteries between Late-style Dojil pottery in Haman and Dojil pottery in Yeongnam region. The methods of piling up Dojil pottery are divided into three types. That of Early-style dojil pottery in Haman is to pile up jars with short neck to lay the jar on its side. It has a difference in not piling up jars with short neck and setting them right in another regions. Late-style dojil pottery has a changed method. Mounted dishes and small potteries are piled up right but jars with short neck are laid the jar on its side in all Yeongnam region. The reason of this change is not only technological advancement. Aproduction intention of potteries would be changed by the social situation like a change of the demand for some potteries. The method of piling up potteries would positively reflect such production intention.
