영남지역 출토 종장판주의 제작공정과 기능변화

Manufacturing Process and Changing the Functionalities of Vertical Plate Helmet in Yeongnam Province

본고는 종장판주를 통해 갑주유물이 지닌 기능과 철기제작 기술을 파악하여 그 당시 사람들의 인식을 추적하고자 하였다.‘ 종장판주의 시ㆍ공간적인 변화는 왜 발생하였는가?’라는 물음에 대한 호기심이 연구의 출발점이 되었다고 할 수 있다. 갑주는 사용되었던 당시 착장자의 기호와 편의를 고려하여 제작되는데, 이는 제작공인이 가진 고도의 기술이 십분 발휘된 것이다. 때문에 갑주라는 유물은 작게는 착장자 개인의 취향을, 넓게는 갑주에 대한 당시 사람들의 인식이나 철기문화까지 살펴 볼 수 있는 중요한 자료라고 할 수 있다. 그 중 종장판주는 삼국시대 한반도의 주력 투구로 비교적 오랜 기간 동안 유행하기 때문에 시ㆍ공간적인 양상을 살피기에 여타 갑주에 비해 유리한 편이다. 종장판주는 복발부, 볼가리개부, 지판부의 조합을 통해 크게 10개의 형식으로 분류가 가능하며, 변화 양상은 Ⅰ~Ⅳ단계로 구분된다. Ⅰ단계는‘Ⅰ나’식이 영남 각지에서 확인된다. Ⅱ단계는‘Ⅰ가ㆍⅡ가ㆍⅡ나’식이 확인되는데, 그 중‘Ⅱ가’식은 주로 김해ㆍ부산지역에서 확인된다. Ⅲ단계는‘Ⅲ가ㆍⅢ나ㆍⅢ다ㆍⅢ마’식 등의 여러 형식이 영남 각지에서 두루 확인된다. Ⅳ단계는‘Ⅳ라ㆍⅣ마’식이 확인되는데, 대부분이‘Ⅳ마’식으로 이 역시 영남 각지에서 확인된다. 단계별로 형식의 변화를 인지한 후 속성의 변화를 살펴보면, 제작자의 측면에서는 제작공정의 변화가 요인이 되어, 또한 착장자의 측면에서는 기능의 변화가 요인이 되어 속성들이 변화함을 알 수 있다. 제작공정의 경우에는 제작공정→가공공정 중심의 변화가, 기능의 경우 방호ㆍ장식 기능의 강화가 종장판주 속성 변화의 가장 큰 요인이 되고 있다. 이처럼 속성은 제작자ㆍ착장자의 인식변화와 연동하여 변화하였으며, 당시의 철기 제작기술ㆍ철기제작 소재ㆍ身甲ㆍ공격용 무기와 같은 여러 사회ㆍ문화적인 배경의 변화와도 관련성이 깊다.

The purpose of this study is to understand the recognition of the “MakerㆍUser” through the Vertical Plate Helmet. After the changes in recognition of “MakerㆍUser” through the changes of attribute with flow of the time, then to prove what changes their recognition. Use the appropriate method for developing this argument. The main thesis from each chapter is summarized as below. The purpose of chapter Ⅲ is to review timeliness and spatiality of the Vertical Plate Helmet. The Vertical Plate Helmet can be configured into the types of 10 and the phase of 4. The purpose of chapter Ⅳ is to understand the recognition of the “MakerㆍUser” through the change of attributes. Maker can manufacture Vertical Plate Helmet by the three phase; “Product design→Manufacture Parts→Assemble Parts”, the user seeks of the Vertical Plate Helmet due to the three functionalities; protection, convenience, ornament. And the changes of Vertical Plate Helmet’s attribute was not a simple change of relic, but it was possibly related with social and cultural background. The argument, that the changes of attribute which reflected on the relic; Vertical Plate Helmet was not a simple change, can be identified through chapter Ⅲ~Ⅳ. Recognition, social and cultural background of people at the era reflected on the attribute of the relic, even though Vertical plate Helmet is a single relic. This is the achievement that writer can acquire through this study.
