The Trading Base in Neuk-do: A new perspective of the metal trade

다량의 외래계유물이 출토된 늑도유적은 일찍부터 교역의 거점으로써 주목받아 왔다. 금속기교역에 그 초점을 맞추어볼 수 있는데, 본고에서는 늑도를 둘러싼 漢-韓-倭 사이의 물류 네트워크에 대해 새로운 시각에서 접근해 보았다. 구체적으로는 인간의 이주와 교역형태의 변화, 그리고 늑도 내에서의 倭人의 위치 등에 대해 고찰해 보았다. 또한 탄소14연대를이용하여 교역 거점으로써 늑도유적의 최성기, 야요이인의 도래가 가장 활발했던 시기를 추정해 보았다. 對日交易을 전제로 하였을 때 수출품이었던 철소재나 철기에 상응하는 대가를 인적자원으로 보았고, 그러한 倭人 및 외교관련자가 늑도취락 내 일부에서 Japanese town을 형성하고 있었던 것으로 생각된다. 철소재 및 철기의 수입, 혹은 철기생산과 관련된 야요이인의 이주가 상정된다. 야요이인의 늑도로의 이주는 기원전 1세기대에 가장 활발하였고, 기원전1세기후반이 되면 아오야카미지치유적 등과 같이 산인(山陰)지방까지 교역망이 확대된다. 1세기에 들면서 김해지역으로이주한 목관묘 세력의 발전된 철기생산능력이 야요이사회 諸小國의 對韓交易地를 喚起시키게 되면서 교역 거점으로써의늑도유적은 점차 瓦解되어 간다.

Because of a lot of exotic finds, the Neuk-do 勒島, an island settlement, has been recognized as the focus of foreign trade for a long time. Although the various arguments about the trade in Neuk-do have been suggested, the archaeological evidences concerning the inflow of the Yayoi 弥生 population and the metal trade discovered in it have never been systematically investigated. In this paper I try to approach to the trading network between Han 漢, Han 韓 and Wa 倭 in the new perspectives. The ultimate inquiry with regard to the problems of the metal trade between Han 韓 and Wa 倭 is what would have been received in return for the exported iron ingots and objects by the Neuk-do traders. In this research, it could be suggested that the slaves should be payed by the Yayoi merchants and the immigrant communities be formed within the Neuk-do settlement. And the peak period of the Yayoi population influx in Neuk-do island were to be during 100 years of the first century BC according to the accurate dating from the radiocarbon dates. During this period, the Neuk-do trading network was assumed to be extended to the Sanin 山陰 province of Japanese Archipelago based on the discoveries of the Neuk-do pottery in Aoyakamijichi 靑谷上寺地, Dottoriken 鳥取県. From the early first century AD when the Yayoi traders began to pay attention to the rapid growth in the productive capacity of iron in Kimhae金 海 area, the Neuk-do trading system started to collapse.
