전체성과 무한에 관한 고찰

Consideration of Totality and Infinity

사회복지실천현장에서 클라이언트는 불가능성의 경험을 한다. 이에 대해 사회복지사는 그들의 삶을 이해하고 개입하기 위해 부단히 노력해야 한다. 많은 노력들 중에서도 필자는 철학과의 만남 속에서 그 해답을 찾아보고자 하였다. 사회복지실천의 가능성은 친숙한 실천 학문으로부터 시작해 낯선 철학과의 만남으로 이어졌을 때 비로소 가능하다. 이를 위해 본 연구에서는 레비나스의 『전체성과 무한』의 내용을 고찰하였다. 이를 통해 사회복지실천에서 간과해 왔던 타자와의 관계를 다르게 사유할 수 있는 레비나스의 사유 가능성을 논의하였다. 타자와의 관계, 타자를 환대하는 것, 맞아들임, 즉 클라이언트 관계의 재정립, 사회복지사로서 클라이언트를 환대하는 것, 클라이언트를 맞아들이는 것 등을 레비나스의 읽기에서 찾아 탐색해야 할 것이다. 클라이언트와의 관계 속에서만 정립될 수 있는 사회복지실천은 우리에게 늘 새로운 질문을 던진다. 이러한 부름에 응답하는 글쓰기는 이후에도 계속 되어야 할 것이다.

In the field of social welfare practice, clients experience the impossibility. In response, social workers must work tirelessly to understand and intervene in their lives. Among many efforts, I tried to find the year in encounter with philosophy. The possibility of social welfare practice is possible only when it starts from familiar practical studies and leads to an encounter with a strange philosophy. To this end, this study considered the content of Levinas s Totality and Infinity. Through this, we discussed the possibility of thinking of Levinas, who can think differently about the relationship with others that has been overlooked in social welfare practice. It will be necessary to find and explore the relationships with others, the hospitality of others, the reestablishment of client relationships, the hospitality of clients as social workers, and the reception of clients in the reading of Levinas. Social welfare practices that can only be established in a relationship with a client always ask us new questions. Writing in response to this call will continue.
