첫째 자녀의 초등학교 입학을 앞둔 어머니들의 초등학교 생활에 대한 인식 및 실제적 준비

A Study on Mothers Preparation for Schooling for Their children s Elementary School Adoption

본 연구는 자녀의 초등학교 입학을 앞 둔 어머니들이 자녀들의 초등학교 적응을 준비하기 위해서 초등학교 생활에 대해서 어떠한 인식을 하고 있으며 이를 위해 무엇을 준비하고 있는지에 대한 탐색을 바탕으로 앞으로 유초연계를 위한 지원방안을 제시하는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 이를 위해 2017년 9월부터 12월까지 첫 자녀의 초등학교 입학을 앞둔 어머니들 8명을 대상으로 면담을 실시하였다. 연구결과로는 첫째, 자녀의 초등학교 취학을 앞둔 어머니들은 자녀가 초등학교 생활을 잘 적응할 것이라는 기대와 그렇지 못할지도 모른다는 불안감을 모두 나타내었으며, 이러한 인식의 기준은 현재 자녀의 유치원 생활상과 학습태도를 바탕으로 하고 있었다. 앞으로 만나게 될 초등학교 교사와 학부모들에 대한 두려움도 인식하고 있었으며, 특히 초등학교 교사 이미지는 엄격하고 규율을 준수하는 권위자의 모습으로 나타났다. 둘째, 자녀의 초등학교 취학을 앞둔 어머니들은 적극적인 자세로 취학준비를 하고 있었다. 이들은 한글과 연산의 선행학습을 시행하고, 이외에도 다양한 형태의 사교육 자원을 활용하여 자녀의 특성에 맞게 제공하고자 하였다. 마지막으로 자녀에게 보다 더 좋은 초등학교 교육환경의 제공을 위해서 기존의 거주지를 떠나 새로운 거주지로의 이사를 고려하는 계기를 마련하고 있었다.

The purpose of this study is to analyze what parents perceive about elementary school life and what they want to prepare for their child s entrance to elementary school. To do this, I interviewed eight mothers who were about to enter their first elementary school. The results of the study are as follows. First, mothers who are about to go to elementary school for their children are aware of both the fear and expectation of elementary school teachers and the fear and expectation of parents to meet. Second, mothers who were preparing to attend elementary school for their children were preparing to go to school aggressively. As a basic preparation, Hangul and arithmetic are representative. Before entering elementary school, the precedent learning of Hangul has been recognized as natural and it has to have a certain level of writing ability. The next step is to utilize various forms of private tutoring. The hope of mothers who want to provide a better elementary school environment for their children is to leave the existing place of residence and consider moving to a new place of residence.
