『어린이』 소재 차상찬 역사동화 연구

A Study of Cha Sang-chan’s History Tales in the Eolin-I Magazine

청오(靑吾) 차상찬(車相瓚, 1887-1946)은 근대 언론·출판의 선구자로 평가받는 인 물이지만 그에 대한 연구는 미비하다. 본 논의는 『어린이』에 게재한 차상찬의 역사동 화 자료를 목록화 하고 그 특징을 살펴봄으로써 한문학을 토대로 공부한 그가 ‘어린 이’라는 근대 독자를 상대로 역사를 서술한 방식을 알아보고자 한다. 먼저 본고는 차상찬이 『어린이』에 게재한 글의 전체와 역사동화의 목록화 작업을 시도하였다. 그의 역사동화는 조선시대-명장을 주 대상으로 기술하면서도 다양한 역 사적 인물들을 수용하고 있다. 차상찬 역사동화는 창조적인 서두와 결말, 전통적인 중간 부분으로 이루어져있다. 본고는 차상찬 역사동화에서 주관과 창조성을 개입시 켜야 하는 지점을 지시하는 무의식적 틀이 전통적인 전(傳) 양식이었다고 본다. 차상 찬의 역사동화는 서두와 결말에서 아동독자를 분명하게 인식하고 그들의 관심사와 호기심을 염두에 두었기에, 중간에서 어렵고도 복잡한 전통적 미토스를 거의 그대로 전달하면서도 아동의 주의를 유지할 수 있도록 고안되었다. 마지막으로 본고는 그러 한 서두와 결말의 방식이 어린이들에게 전달하는 메시지에 대해 고구한다.

Although Cha Sang-chan (1887-1946) has a Chinese-language foundation, he is considered a pioneer of modern journalism and publishing, but research on him is insufficient. By examining Cha Sang-chan’s historical fairy tales published in the Eolin-I magazine, this discussion aims to find out how he described historical fairy tales to modern (children) readers, who studied traditional Chinese literature. First, this study listed all articles that Cha posted in the magazine and the historical fairy tale, and confirmed that his historical fairy tale was written around the Choseon Dynasty and the famous generals but accommodated various historical figures. Cha Sang-chan’s historical fairy tale consists of a creative opening and ending and a traditional middle part. The main textbook suggests that in Cha Sang-chan’s historical fairy tale, the unconscious framework that dictates where the subject and creativity should be involved is the Chon[ 傳 ] mode. Cha Sang-chan’s historical fairy tale was designed to keep the child’s attention, while delivering difficult and complex traditional mythos in the middle and, at the same time, keeping in mind the children readers’ interests and curiosity in the opening and ending. Finally, the study analyzed the implicit and timeless message that such a style of opening and ending sends to children readers.
