포스트휴먼 리터러시

Posthuman literacy - Its concept, categories, theoretical basis, and the directions of education

본고는 정보통신기술의 발전과 뉴미디어의 등장으로 나타난 리터러시의 성격과 형 태의 변화를 포스트휴먼 리터러시란 용어를 통해 설명하고자 하였다. 이를 위한 본고 의 논의는 네 가지 연구 문제를 중심으로 이루어졌다: 첫째, 리터러시의 발달 과정과 포스트휴먼 리터러시가 등장하게 된 배경은 무엇인가? 둘째, 포스트휴먼 리터러시의 범주는 어디까지인가? 셋째, 포스트휴먼 리터러시의 이론적 기반은 무엇인가?, 그리 고 넷째, 포스트휴먼 리터러시의 대안적 연구 주제와 교육의 방향은 무엇인가? 본고 에서 논의한 주된 내용을 정리하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 포스트휴먼 리터러시는 일원 론적 철학과 탈인본주의적 세계관을 기반으로 세상 속 모든 존재들 간의 평등한 관계 성을 기반으로 한 소통과 상호작용에 목표를 두고 있다. 둘째, 포스트휴먼 리터러시 는 양식성(디지털 리터러시), 핵심적 관점(탈인본주의 리터러시), 방향성(비판적 리터러시), 그리고 성격(혼성적 리터러시)에 따라 네 가지 영역으로 구분되어 논의되고 있다. 셋째, 포스트휴먼 리터러시의 핵심원리들은 포스트휴머니즘의 네 가지 주요 이론인 신물질 주의, 행위자-망이론, 비대표성이론, 그리고 포스트현상학을 통해 이해될 수 있다. 넷 째, 포스트휴먼 리터러시는 기존의 리터러시 이론에서 등한시되었던 정서의 재발견, 담론의 물질성, 그것을 가상적 정체성의 문제에 더 큰 관심을 가질 필요가 있다. 아울 러 포스트휴먼 리터러시 교육이 학교 교육의 범주와 포스트휴먼적 존재성을 확장하 는 방향으로 나아가야 함을 강조하였다. 본고에서 논의한 포스트휴먼 리터러시는 급 속히 발달하는 정보통신기술 환경 속에서 리터러시 연구와 실천의 새로운 방향성을 제시해주게 될 것이다.

This study aims to discuss the transitions of the forms and natures of literacy, in the context of sheer ICT (Information-Computer-Technology) development and the emergence of new media. This study ventures to discuss the following four research questions, to support the rationale and the validity of the new term, posthuman literacy: First, what are the trajectories of the concepts of literacy and the background of the emergence of posthuman literacy?; Second, what areas of study and practice fall into the category of posthuman literacy?; Third, what is the theoretical basis of posthuman literacy?; Fourth, what are the major fields of interest in posthuman literacy research and the directions of posthuman literacy education? The main points of argument can be epitomized as follows: first, posthuman literacy is based on the philosophy of flat ontology and equal relationship among all creatures in the universe; second, posthuman literacy accepts and enjoys multimodal, critical, virtual/hybrid styles of literacy; third, posthuman literacy firmly stands on the four theoretical positions of new materialism, actor-network theory, non-representative theory, and post-phenomenology; and fourth, posthuman literacy aims to investigate the issues of affection, materiality, and virtuality of literacy practices.
