대학생들의 카카오톡 언어가 글쓰기에 미치는 영향

The Effect of ‘Kakao Talk’ Language on Writing for the College Students

글은 단어 선택이나 문장 구성력이 중요함에도 불구하고 요즘 대학생들의 글을 보면 가볍게 생각하거나 무시하는 경향이 있다. 이는 언제 어디서든 빠르게 의사소통이 가능한 SNS(Social Network Service) 글쓰기의 영향이라고 볼 수 있다. 시간을 단축하기 위해 음절이나 음소를 생략하거나 줄이고, 입말(구어체)로 대화하는 과정에서 빠르게 쓰다 보면 나타나는 오타를 무시함으로 인해 발생한다. 카카오톡에서 사용하는 언어는 일상언어에 비해 상당히 파격적이고 다양화되고 있다. 카카오톡이라는 공간이 개인의 사적 공간이긴 하지만, 카카오톡 상에서의 언어가 문제시 되는 것은 통신상에서의 잘못된 언어 습관이 일상언어 사용에서도 나타나 모국어로서의 가치를 훼손시킨다는 것이다. 즉, 한글은 띄어쓰기가 중요함에도 불구하고 무시하거나 중요하다고 생각하지 않는다. 맞춤법은 겹받침이나 사이시옷의 경우 틀리거나, 공적인 글은 표준어를 사용해야 함에도 불구하고 비표준어를 사용하는 경우가 있다. 카카오톡 언어가 집단이나 단체, 세대 간에 친밀감과 소통이라는 사회학적 측면에서 다양한 긍정적인 요소를 지니고 있음에도 불구하고 대학 글쓰기에 악영향을 미치고 있음을 살펴보았다. 이에 대한 방안으로는 자신의 카카오톡 대화 내용에 대한 ‘바로보기’와 ‘수정하기’ 활동이다. 그 결과 바른 글쓰기에 대한 효과와 태도의 변화를 확인할 수 있었다. 이는 대학생들의 올바른 글쓰기 환경을 만드는 데 의의가 있다고 할 수 있다.

Selecting words and organizing sentences are important in writing, but college students nowadays tend to disvalue or disregard them in their pieces of writing. They might be affected by writing in SNS(Social Network Service) that allows people to communicate quickly at any time and in any place. They usually drop or shorten some syllables and phonemes to save time, and ignore the typos when they write speedily their spoken discourse. The language used in Kakao Talk becomes very diverse and unprecedented compared with ordinary language. Although we understand that the space of Kakao Talk is private, the reason we bring the language in Kakao Talk into question is that people could have the inaccurate language habit made from SNS communication in ordinary language, leading to damage to the value of mother tongue. For example, they ignore or downplay the word spacing even though it is an important rule in Hangul, the Korean Language. Double final consonant and inter consonant ‘siot’ are incorrectly used against the rules of Korean orthography. They are likely to use non-standard language instead of standard one even in the formal writing. This study investigates that Kakao Talk language has a bad effect on writing for the college students even though it has variously positive elements in the social aspect of affinity and communication between groups and generations. Possible solution of the problem is the activities of ‘rightly observing’ and ‘correcting’. Finally, positive results and changes of their attitude in writing checked out. The significance of this study is that we could make some conditions of correctly writing for the college students.
