대학생의 글쓰기 기초학력진단평가의 기능과 진단평가지 개발

본고는 대학 신입생들의 글쓰기 능력에 편차가 수업의 진행에 있어 혼란을 가중시키고 있다는 문제에서 출발하였다. 이러한 문제 상황을 해결하기 위한 방안으로 신입생의 글쓰기 능력을 측정하는 진단평가 도입의 필요성을 주장하였다. 글쓰기 기초학력진단평가를 도입하기 위해 평가의 기능과 타당성을 검증하였다. 현재 글쓰기에 대한 유일한 국가공인 자격시험으로 “한국실용글쓰기검정”이 있다. 그런데 “한국실용글쓰기검정”은 직무능력 수행과 관련한 ‘실용적 글쓰기’에 초점이 맞춰져 있어, 대학 현장에 적용시키는 데에 일정한 한계가 있음을 파악하였다. 대학생이 학문공동체의 일원으로서 필요한 글쓰기 기초학력을 측정하기 위해서는 문법적인 기초지식 이외에도 문해력, 구성력, 표현력을 평가해야 한다. 대학에 글쓰기 기초학력진단평가를 도입하기 위해서는 타당도, 신뢰도, 객관도를 갖춘 평가도구의 확보가 중요함을 역설하였다. 내용에 있어서 타당도는 고등학교 수업과 대학 수업을 연계한 문항 구성을 통해 확보하고자 하였다. 학생의 글쓰기 능력 평가에 대한 신뢰도를 높이기 위해서는 문항의 유형과 배점 비율의 유지가 필요하다고 보았다. 채점자들의 주관에서 벗어나 평가의 객관도를 높이기 위해서는 세부 평가 항목별 체크리스트를 제공하여 점수를 표시하는 평정법을 도입할 것을 주장하였다. 글쓰기 기초학력진단평가는 교양필수 과목으로서의 “글쓰기” 교과의 교육계획을 수정하고 보완하여 교육 방향을 설정하는 데 일정한 역할을 할 수 있을 것으로 파악하였다. 진단평가의 측정 결과는 강의 커리큘럼 및 교재 개발은 물론, 실습 수준을 조정할 뿐 아니라 교과와 비교과 프로그램 운영의 근거가 자료로 활용될 수 있음을 주장하였다.
