대학생 필자의 디지털 문식활동 사례 연구

A case study of digital literary activity by college student writer

인터넷의 대중화는 개인의 자아표현 욕구는 물론 타인에 대한 관심과 소통욕구를 증대시켜 개인 미디어 발달을 가져왔다. 현대 사회에서 다양한 디지털기기를 활용하여 문식 활동을 하는 것은 자신의 계정과 온라인 데이터를 관리하며 개인의 사생활과 표현에 대한 복잡한 문제를 고려하는 것을 의미한다. 연구자는 민족지학적 사례연구를 통해 한 대학생이 온라인에서 자신의 정체성을 어떻게 형성해 가는지를 살펴보았다. 연구 결과, 참여자에게 디지털 공간은 일상적 문식 활동과 복잡하게 얽혀있었고, SNS는 참여자의 사적, 공적인 생활에서 자신을 드러내는데 중요한역할을 하고 있었다. 특히, 참여자는 자신을 드러내기 위해 학구적, 신앙적, 사교적, 교양적 이미지를 다양한 복합양식들을 활용하여 표현하였다. 이것들은 모두 자신의 정체성과 밀접한 관계를 맺고 있었다. 아울러 그녀의 다양한SNS활동은 자신의 역할(position)을 규정짓는 근거가 작용하였고, 크게‘생산자, 소비자, 공유자, 관리자’의 역할로 나눠졌다. 대학생 필자의 디지털 문식활동 경험과 정체성 조정 및 일상과의 통합 문제는 앞으로도 디지털 환경에서 한 사람의 특성을 이해하는 중요한 단서가 될것이다.

This article using ethnographic case study data, examines how one undergraduate student integrated his use of social network sites into his everyday literacy practices to represent his identity. As a result of the research, digital space was intertwined with everyday cultural activities for participants, and SNS played an important role in revealing oneself in private and public life of participant. Particularly, the participants used various complex forms to express academic, religious, social, and cultural images to reveal themselves. In addition, her various social networking activities acted as a basis for defining her role and were largely divided into roles of ‘producer, consumer, sharer, manager’. College students experiences of diverse digital literacy activities and identities are important clues to understand the characteristics of one person in the online environment.
