대학 글쓰기 교과의 교양성과 연계성에 대한 반성적 고찰

A Critical Consideration on Scholarly Liberty and Curriculum Continuity in College Writing Education

본고는 최근 대학 글쓰기 교과가 마주하고 있는 부정적 상황에 대해 기존의 글쓰기 과목이 가진 운영 과정에서 보인 문제점들을 분석하고 그 대안으로서 사회적요구를 반영한 대학 글쓰기 표준안이 필요함을 역설하였다. 특히 교양성과 연계성은 그간 글쓰기 교과목이 추구했던 가치들이었지만 대학이사회적 변화에 소극적으로 대처하면서 두 가치 모두를 훼손하게 될 상황에 이른현재의 상황을 한 대학의 글쓰기 교과 운영 데이터를 사례로 들어 반성적으로 살폈다. 대학이 사회가 필요로 하는 의사소통역량을 제대로 교육하지 못하는 사이, 정부에서는 공무적격성평가제도(PSAT), 대학생 핵심역량진단(K-CESA)을 개발하여 의사소통능력에 대한 기업과 사회의 요구를 포괄적으로 반영하고 있고 기업들은 정부의가이드라인에 준하는 다양한 의사소통능력 진단 도구를 자체 개발하여 채용에 활용하고 있다. 또한 한국 대학의 학술적 글쓰기의 표준을 외국인유학생에게도 제시해야 하는 필요성과 취업준비생들의 요구 그리고 강사법으로 인한 대학 당국의 교양과목의 축소 경향을 고려해 볼 때 국가 표준과 사회 요구를 모두 포함하고, 기존의 글쓰기 교과가 가진 한계를 극복할 수 있는 대안이 요구된다고 결론지었다.

In relation to the recent negative situation faced by university writing subjects, the paper analyzed problems seen in the operation of existing writing subjects and emphasized the need for a college writing standard that reflects social needs as an alternative. In particular, scholarly liberty and curriculum continuity have been values pursued by writing subjects until now. This paper looked at the current situation where universities are facing damage to both values while reacting passively to social changes. While universities are failing to properly train the communication skills required by society, the government has developed the Public Service Aptitude Test (PSAT) and the Korea Collegiate Essential Skills Assessment(K-CESA) to comprehensively reflect the needs of businesses and society for communication skills, while companies develop their own diverse communication skills assessment tools in accordance with the government s guidelines and utilize them to recruit new employees. It also concluded that considering the need to present the standard of academic writing to foreign students, the need for job seekers, and the tendency of university authorities to reduce liberal arts due to the Lecturer Law(Lecturer as Teacher in the amendments of the <Higher Education Law>), it is necessary to include both national standards and social needs, and to overcome the limitations of existing writing courses.
