플립 러닝(Flipped Learning) 철학수업에서의 글쓰기

Writing in Flipped Learning Class of Philosophy

본고는 플립 러닝 방식의 철학수업에서 철학적 글쓰기 활동이 어떻게 구현되는지 살펴보고자 한다. 플립 러닝 방식에 의하면 수업시간에 강의를 하지 않는다. 대신 동영상을 통해 학생들이 각자 편한 시간에 강의 내용을 미리 익히도록 한다. 그리고 수업시간에는 동영상을 통해 학습한 내용을 확인하고 부족한 부분을 보충하며 서로의 의견을 활발하게 나눈다. 본고는 소통 중심의 플립 러닝 방식 수업이 철학적 글쓰기에 기여하는 바가 있다고 주장한다. 철학교과는 다음의 목표를 수행한다. 첫째, 철학교과는 수동적으로 형성된 편견과 선입견을 부순다. 둘째, 철학교과는 문제에 대한 답을 찾는 것보다 문제를 제기하는 것을 더욱 중시한다. 셋째, 철학교과는 주어진 사태에 순응하지 않고 비판적인 안목을 갖출 것을 추구한다. 넷째, 철학교과는 민주시민으로서 갖춰야 할 의사소통능력을 향상시키고자 한다. 다섯째, 철학교과는 치열한 학습과 고민을 통해 자기 자신만의 편견을 능동적으로 형성하는 데 기여하고자 한다. 철학적 글쓰기는 이러한 철학교과의 목표를 달성하는 본질적인 작업이다. 그리고 플립 러닝 방식으로 진행된 <동양철학개론> 교과를 통해 능동적이고 비판적인 철학적 글쓰기에 플립 러닝 방식이 기여함을 확인했다. 몇 가지 보완사항들을 개선함으로써 추후 좀 더 내실 있는 플립 러닝 철학수업을 진행할 수 있으리라 기대된다.

This paper examines how philosophical writing is transacted in Flipped Learning class of philosophy. According to Flipped Learning model teachers don t give a lecture in their classroom. Instead of listening to a lecture in the classroom, students watch video lectures which contain explanations about philosophical concepts before the class at their convenience. In classroom teachers check what students learned, and students ask what they don t understand. This paper argues that Flipped Learning model contributes to philosophical writing. Philosophy class has aims as follows. First of all, it casts away prejudices and assumptions. It lays stress on problem posing rather than problem solving. It doesn t flatter assumptions and seeks critical perspectives. It improves ability to communicate with each other as citizens. And it contributes to make their own sound prejudices through intense learning and thinking. Philosophical writing is an essential activity to achieve these aims of philosophy class. Introduction to eastern philosophy class managed by Flipped Learning method demonstrates that this method is useful for active and critical writing. We can expect more qualified philosophical writing class by considering some improvements.
