건국대 글로컬캠퍼스 인문클리닉의 배경과 의의

The Background and Meanings of the Humanities Clinic at Konkuk University Glocal Campus

오늘날 대학은 독자적인 특수성을 유지하되, 기업과 국가의 요구를 수용하고 교육내용에 일정 부분 반영할 필요가 있다. 이를 위해 국가가 요구하는 직무능력, 기업이 요구하는 직무능력의 편차를 인지할 필요가 있다. 국가가 제시한 직무(NCS, National Competency Standards)에는 기업이 요구하는 인성과 열정의 함양이 제시되어 있지 않다. 대학은 국가가 제시한 표준직무 외에 기업이 요구하는 열정과 같은 인성을 연마할 수 있는 기회를 제공해야 한다. 정규 교과목을 통해 인성을 함양하고 열정을 북돋을 수 있지만, 비교과 프로그램을 통해서도 지속적으로 학생들의 인성 지도가 이루어져야 한다. 건국대 글로컬캠퍼스는 창립자 상허 유석창 박사의 성(誠)신(信)의(義) 정신을 교육에 구현하기 위해, 인성 함양 교과로서 글쓰기, 한국사, 철학을 필수 이수하도록 지정해 놓았다. 2015년부터 건국대 글로컬캠퍼스는 ‘글쓰기클리닉’을 확장하여 ‘인문클리닉’을 시행하고 있으며, ‘인문클리닉’은 교과와 연계하여 학생들의 인격을 도야하며 품성을 기르는데 체계적이고 지속적인 노력을 기울이고 있다. 비교과 과정으로서 인문클리닉은 교과와 연계한 체계적인 프로그램을 통해 재학생들의 품성 도야의 장이 될 수 있을 것이다.

Today’s universities, while maintaining their unique characteristics, need to accept demands from the enterprises and the state and reflect some of them in the contents of their education. For this need, it is necessary to recognize differences between personality and job competency demanded by the state and those demanded by enterprises. The National Competency Standards (NCS) suggested by the government do not suggest the cultivation of personality and passion demanded by enterprises. Accordingly, universities should provide opportunities to drill passion and personality expected by companies in addition to the standard competencies suggested by the government. Personality can be cultivated and passion be inspired through the regular curriculums, but students’ personality should be refined further through non-curricular programs. In order to implement the spirit of sincerity (誠), faith (信), and justice (義) held up by Dr. Sangheo Seok-chang Yoo, the founder, Konkuk University Glocal Campus made it compulsory for the students to complete writing, Korean history, and philosophy as courses for cultivating personality. From 2015, Konkuk University Glocal Campus has been executing the Humanities Clinic as an extension of the Writing Clinic, and the Humanities Clinic is making systematic efforts continuously to build up students’ personality and polish their character in connection to the curriculums. The Humanities Clinic, as a non-curricular course, is expected to provide the students with a ground for character cultivation through systematic programs connected to the curriculums.
