대학 신입생을 위한 글쓰기 기초능력 진단도구 개발

A Study on the Development of Diagnosis Tools Analyzing Basic Writing Ability for College Freshmen - The case of K-University in Gyeongsangbuk-do

본 연구는 국내 유수의 대학들이 글쓰기 진단도구를 개발한 상황에서 이러한 기존 연구들을 기반으로 하여 경북 소재 K대학교의 신입생들을 대상으로 글쓰기 진단도구 를 개발하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 대학의 필수 교양 교과목인 글쓰기 수업을 진행하 기에 앞서 대학 신입생들의 글쓰기 기초능력을 진단하고 평가할 수 있도록 글쓰기 진 단도구가 개발될 필요가 있다. 즉, 실제 글쓰기 수업 내용을 학생들의 수준과 필요에 맞게 글쓰기 진단도구를 개발하여 대학 신입생들의 글쓰기 기초능력을 파악하고 이 를 바탕으로 대학생으로서 갖추어야 할 의사소통능력을 체계적으로 교육하기 위함 이다. K대학교에서는 본 대학의 특성에 맞추어 선택식, 객관식, 단답식으로 총 30문항을 출제하고 글쓰기 수업을 수강하기 전, 신입생들의 글쓰기 기초능력을 측정할 수 있도 록 진단도구를 개발하였다. 이렇게 학교마다 교육 목표, 교육 방법, 학생의 특성에 차 이가 있는데 이에 맞는 각 학교별 진단평가가 연구된다면 대한민국 전체 학생의 글쓰 기 수준과 역량 차이를 비롯하여 학교별 차이점·공통점을 찾을 수도 있다. 이러한 의 미에서 본 연구는 대학의 교양 교육으로서 ‘글쓰기’가 지향해야 하는 바를 찾아내고 그에 맞는 교수법을 개발할 수 있으며, 국내 대학의 글쓰기 교양과목들과 네트워크를 형성할 수 있다는 점에서 의미가 있다.

The purpose of this study is to develop a writing diagnostic tool for freshmen at K-University in Gyeongsangbuk-do. Based on existing studies, a number of leading universities in Korea have developed writing diagnostic tools. Before proceeding with the writing course, which is an essential liberal arts course at the university, a writing diagnostic tool needs to be developed to diagnose and evaluate the basic skills of college freshmen in writing. In other words, the purpose of this study is to develop basic writing skills for college students by developing writing diagnostic tools to meet the students level and needs, and to systematically educate them about the communication skills they should have as college students. In accordance with their characteristics, K-University has developed a diagnostic tool to measure the basic ability of new students before taking a writing class. As such, there are differences in educational goals, educational methods, and characteristics of students in each school. While researching the diagnostic evaluation of schools, we found differences and commonalities for each school, including differences in writing levels and competencies among students across South Korea. Thus, this study is meaningful in that it is possible to determine the aim of “writing” in liberal arts education, develop a suitable teaching method, and form a network with the liberal arts courses of a domestic university.
