The article examines the impact of Adger Allen Poe’s novels on the establishment of modern Korean novels. Po’s literature was introduced through newspapers, journals, etc. in the mid 1920s, and was especially noted by researchers of overseas literature. In the early days, horror stories were translated, and they corresponded to the atmosphere of Korean literary circles in the 1920s. The translation of Po novels contributed to the establishment of modern short stories in two respects. First, the theory of the effect of the literary style advocated by Poe contributed to the completeness of the plot of short stories. For example, in the case of detective stories, the theory of the effects of the form can be viewed as a pioneering Second, three pieces of Po’s short story in the 1920s are translated.
