베껴쓰기를 활용한 효과적인 글쓰기 교육에 관한 연구

A Study about Effective Writing Education Based on Text Copy

베껴쓰기는 고대 그리스, 로마시대부터 시작되어 중세 유럽뿐만 아니라 한국을 포함한 동양에서도 오래전부터 널리 사용된 독서와 글쓰기를 위한 가장 효과적인 방법이다. 이 논문은 베껴쓰기를 글쓰기 수업에 활용하는 전략에 대한 연구이다. 좋은 글을 쓰기 위한 조건으로는 많은 독서, 많은 사색, 다양한 문장 훈련이 필요하다. 하지만 대학의 글쓰기 수업에서 독서와 사색, 글쓰기 훈련을 위해 매번 일정양의 시간을 할애하는 것은 현실적으로 쉽지 않다. 이를 위하여 베껴쓰기를 글쓰기 교육에 활용한다면 교수자, 학습자 모두 짧은 시간에 다양한 효과를 얻을 수 있을 것이다. 글쓰기 교육에서 베껴쓰기를 활용하기 위해서는 매 시간 교수-학습 과정을 명확히 설정하는 것이 핵심이다. 이 과정은 5단계로 나눌 수 있다. 첫째, 수업목표를 설정해야 한다. 둘째, 주제에 맞는 텍스트를 선정, 학습자에게 미리 제공하고 수업시간에 읽기 활동을 한다. 셋째, 텍스트에 대한 분석과 텍스트의 문체적 특징(어휘, 문법, 표현법 등)을 설명한다. 넷째, 쓰기 활동 후 반드시 학습자들이 주제에 대한 소그룹별 토론 활동을 통하여 과목에 대한 흥미를 잃지않게 한다. 이후 암기 활동도 진행한다. 다섯째, 반드시 다시 쓰기 단계를 시행하여 학습자가 독서에 대한 스키마를 형성할 수 있도록 도와주어야 한다. 텍스트를 발췌할 때는 500~1,000자 정도의 분량이 적당하며 각 주제에 맞는 완벽한 텍스트 선정이 베껴쓰기 활동에서 가장 중요한 부분을 차지한다. 이 논문의 궁극적인 목적은 베껴쓰기를 통하여 학습자가 자신감을 갖고 자유롭게 글 쓰는 능력을 향상 시키는 데 있다. 이 글을 바탕으로 많은 글쓰기 방법론에 관한 다양한 연구들을 기대해 본다.

Text copy, started with the ancient Greek and continued through the Roman Era, and medieval Europe, was widely used in the East including Korea as the most effective way for reading and writing. This thesis is a research on strategy of using text copy in teaching writing classes. The conditions for well-written articles are lots of reading, writing, meditation, and drills on variety of sentences. However, in reality it is not easy to allocate a certain amount of time on reading, meditating, and writing exercises in the university classes. Instructors and learners will be able to get variety of effects in a short time if text copy was utilized in writing classes. In order to use text copy in the writing education, it is most important to establish exact teaching-training processes for all curriculums. This process is divided into five states. First, instructional objectives are set. Second, select an appropriate text on the subject and provide it to the learners in advance, then do the reading activity in the class. Third, describe the analysis, style, and text features (vocabulary, grammar, expression, and etc.) Fourth, after the text copy, the instructors need to encourage continued interest in the learners through group discussion on the text topic. Afterward advance to memorizing. Fifth, the instructors must perform re-write and help the learners to form a schema for copy text. The perfect amount of text excerpts are about 500~1,000 characters and selecting complete text for each subject is the most important part of text copy. The ultimate goal of this thesis is to make learners to gain confidence and to improve writing skills freely through text copy. I anticipate various researches on many writing methodologies from this writing.
