서강대학교 교양국어 교육의 현황과 전망

The Present State of Korean Reading and Writing Programs as General Education in Sogang University : Centered on the improvement of the book report system

이 글은 서강대학교에서 현재 실시하고 있는 교양국어 교육, 특히 ‘독후감’제도의 현황과 문제점을 점검해 보고 그 개선과 발전의 방안을 모색하기 위해 작성된 보고서 형식의 실무적인 논문이다. 교양국어 제도는 읽기?쓰기?듣기?말하기 등 국어 능력들을 종합적으로 다룸으로써 수준 높은 의사소통 능력을 계발하고 다양한 텍스트를 읽음으로써 글을 정확하게 이해하며 복합적인 문제를 논리적으로 분석하고 재구조화할 수 있는 능력을 기르는 것에 주안점을 두고 있다. 이 가운데 서강대학교 교양국어 과정의 독특한 학사 프로그램인 ‘독후감’제도는 학생들의 독서 능력과 사고력?분석력?문장력 등 종합적인 ‘읽기’와 ‘쓰기’ 능력을 증진시키는 데에 커다란 기여를 해 왔지만 시간이 흐를수록 주변환경의 변화와 제도의 경색, 그리고 운영상의 미숙 등으로 인하여 많은 문제점과 부작용이 나타나고 있는 것 또한 부인할 수 없는 사실이다. 이를 해결하기 위해 우선 강의의 질적 향상을 위한 개선 방향으로 적절한 수강생의 규모를 유지하고, 교재의 개편 및 다양화에 힘쓰고 있다. 또한 독후감 제도의 발전 방안으로 표절과 대필을 방지하고, 워드 프로세서의 사용을 허용하며, 한자 쓰기를 시험으로 대체하고, 독후감 수거 횟수를 줄이며, 학생별면담 지도를 개선하고, 독후감 첨삭 지도를 강화하는 등의 여러 조치를 취하고 있다. 특히 향후 독후감 제도의 발전 방안으로 필독서의 제정과 독후감 인증제를 상호 연계하여 교육의 효과를 높이는 방안을 적극 검토하고 있다.

This thesis is aimed at presenting the effective educational methods about korean reading and writing program as general education in Sogang University. The problems of how to teach the reading and writing is significant in the fact that it was the first step to learn the world. So we must be concentrate the principals of teaching methods about Korean reading and writing system. I seek to find the ability of critical thinking and synthetic judgment in the general education program by establishing reading and writing evaluation system of based on critical reading of the classics. For the purpose of this, I look back into the past processes of reading and writing system in Sogang University and work out the future countermeasure. Prompt measures should be taken to deal with the ever-increasing necessity of society. Using the CBRT(Computer-Based Reading Test) system, students are able to check their ability of reading and writing by themselves. If students can evaluate their level in the general education program analytically, they will be able to improve their ability of critical thinking and synthetic judgment
