Purpose - This paper analyzes the impact of the decrease in the production of the major regional manufacturing industries considering regional and inter-industrial transactions. Design/Methodology/Approach - The 10 major industries were selected using a data of Beak of Korea and Korea Institute for Industrial Economics and Trade. The impact of production reduction in the major regional manufacturing industries was analyzed using the Ritz-Spualding model. Findings - The most regions were found to have a greater impact within the region than outside of it. On the other hand, Jeonbuk had a relatively large out-of-region impact compared to other regions. For Chungbuk, Gangwon and Jeju regions, the effects within and outside the region were similar. However, in the case of value-addition, it was found that, unlike other regions, Chungbuk, Gangwon and Jeju regions had more negative effects outside the region. These results confirm that the decrease in the output value of the major manufacturing industries in the region can affect other regions through the linkage structure between regions. Research Implications - It is implied that it is necessary to establish a policy plan for decreasing production of the major regional industries by considering the relevant structure of each region.
