Purpose - The Purpose of this study was to estimate the impact of FTAs on the extensive and intensive margins of Korean exports in the agriculture sector covering the period from 2001 to 2015. Design/Methodology/Approach - To estimate the effects of the FTA, data on Korean exports in the agro-fishery products and food industries (HS chapter 1-24) were divided in terms of extensive and intensive margins of these exports using the methodology of Flam and Nordstrom (2006) and Hummels and Klenow (2005). The data was analyzed using fixed effect, random effect and PPML models as suggested by Santos Silva and Tenreyro (2006). Findings - Findings revealed that the extensive margins of Korean exports in the agro-fishery products and food industries increased. Relative to intensive margins, these had heterogeneous effects depending on the method of measurement. Moreover, there are different impacts between developed and developing countries. The impact in the FTA was statistically significant for developing countries. Research Implications - The main differentiation of this study is the introduction of extensive margins and intensive margins of exports to Korean agro-fishery products and food industries. Also, this study included an result of the asymmetric effect between countries. So, the implication of the paper is that an export strategy in agro-fishery products and food industries need to consider the characteristics of partner countries.
