이공계를 위한 고전을 통한 <글쓰기>, 과연 가능한가?

Is the Writing Education Possible for Engineer through the Classics?

‘이공계’ 학생들을 대상으로 한 글쓰기 교육에 있어서 고전을 활용한다는 것은 어떤 장점이 있을까? 혹은 나아가 가능하기는 한 것일까? 이 문제를 논의하기 위해서는 ‘고전’, ‘이공계’, ‘글쓰기’라는 이 3개의 항들이 결합할 수 있는지 또 만약 결합할 수 있다면 그것은 어떤 내용과 방법을 통해서 가능한지에 대해 정리해 볼 필요가 있다. 우선 전공 연계형 글쓰기를 고전을 통해 진행한다는 것은 성공가능성이 희박하다고 생각한다. 왜냐하면 통상적인 의미에서 ‘고전’에 해당하는 텍스트들 중 이공계 전공과 직접적으로 연관되어 있는 텍스트는 없거나 드물기 때문이다. 그렇다면 ‘실용적 글쓰기’를 고전을 활용하여 진행하는 것은 가능할까? 이 역시도 부정적이다. 이공계에 특유한 글의 종류 및 기법 등을 고려한다면, 고전을 활용하는 것이 오히려 역효과를 낼 수도 있다. 그렇다면 결국 남은 가능성은 전공 독립형 글쓰기를 하되, ‘성찰적 글쓰기’로 운영하는 경우에만 고전을 이용한 글쓰기 교육이 가능하며, 고전을 이용하는 본래 취지도 살릴 수 있을 것으로 판단된다.

There some issues that in the writing education course the Classics must be used and moreover which method is the best. If so, we can raise the questions such like next. what‘s the adventage or is it possible? For discussion about this problem we shoud consider the relation of next three term, classics, engineer & writing. We can suggest writing indefendent core(WIC), writing associating core(WAC) & other possibilities. First, WAC is almost impossible for successful course. Because we can’t be sure that there are the classics which are very closely or directly related with engineer core study. So, is it possible in the case of practical writing? Because of engineering‘s unique writing characters, this is also negative. If we consider these characters, the remaining possibility is WIC with reflective writing.
