대학 교양교육의 정책과 방향 탐색

Challenges and Responses of University Liberal Arts Education - Focusing on Writing Education

이 논문은 우리나라 대학 교양교육이 당면한 과제를 밝히고, 이를 극복하기 위한 정책 방향을 탐색하되 궁극적으로는 글쓰기 교육에 주는 시사점을 도출하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 이 글에서는 먼저 우리나라 대학 교양교육의 당면과제와 그 극복방안을 분석하고 이를 토대로 대학 글쓰기 교육의 정책 방향을 탐색해보았다. 당면과제는 대학 교육과정 개편 주체의 한계, 대학 교양 담당교수, 대학 신입생 수 감소와 교양교육 위기, 그리고 대학 교양교육 내용 문제 등의 네 가지로 나누어 살펴보았다. 다음으로 대학 ‘교양’교육으로서의 대학 글쓰기 교육 방향을 탐색했는데 이를 위해서는 먼저 교양교육의 도구적 가치(유용성)의 의미를 재해석하였다. 이어서 글쓰기 교육의 효과성 차원에서 교육방향을 제시하였다.

The purposes of this research are finding out challenges of university writing education and suggesting policies to overcome those challenges. This research categorizes the challenges of university writing education as resistance from faculty members who have power to revise liberal arts education curriculum, lecturers’ quality and motivation problem, crisis of liberal arts education caused by students’ requests and decreasing demand, and contents of liberal arts. This study also suggests the policy directions of writing education as one of liberal arts education. Finally, it suggests the ways to improve effectiveness of writing education in university.
