Among the soft solutions for coastal maintenence, the nourishment is applied for the purpose of solving the problem of sand supply or dynamic unbalance. but because nourishment was constructed by non-compacting, It is difficult to confirm the exact amount of sand due to compressed sand according to time and environmental factors. In this study, for providing basic data to solve these problems, the column test, the mess-cylinder test and compaction test were performed using sand collected from three locations in Korea. The void ratio was analyzed according to the particle diameter, working energy, and moisture content through experiments. It was found that volumetric change for increasing moisture content of sand was increased as the particle diameter was decreased. In addition, The compaction effect according to the experimental factors was confirmed a smaller volume change than the compaction A and D, but the compaction effect is expected to increase when additional environmental factors are considered.
