Q 방법론을 활용한 대학생의 계절학기 인식유형 연구

A Study on the Types of Perception for the Seasonal Semester of University Students Using Q Methodology

본 연구는 Q방법론을 통하여 대학생의 계절학기에 대한 주관적 인식유형이 어떠한지 살펴보고자 하였다. 본 연구의 목적을 위하여 Q방법론을 활용하였는데, 계절학기에 관련한 문헌 및 선행연구 탐색과 더불어 대학생을 대상으로 사전 설문을 실시하여 Q모집단을 구성하였으며, 이후 최종 33개의 Q표본을 선정하였다. P표본은 D대학에서 계절학기 과목을 수강하는 37명을 대상으로 하였으며, 자료 분석은 Quanl 프로그램을 활용하여 주성분 요인 분석(Principal Component Factor Analysis)으로 이루어졌다. 연구결과 총 4가지 유형이 도출되었으며, 유형 1은 ‘실리 추구형’, 유형 2는 ‘자기개발 추구형’, 유형 3은 ‘학업보완 추구형’, 유형 4는 ‘시간 확보 추구형’으로 나타났다. 유형 1은 배움에 중점을 두고자 하기 보다는 필요한 학점을 이수하는 데 중요한 의미를 가지고 있었으며, 유형 2는 다양한 과목을 수강하면서 취업에 대한 역량 및 자기개발에 관심을 가지고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 유형 3은 학기 중 만족스럽게 이루어지지 않은 학업을 보완하고자 하는 태도를 보였으며, 유형 4는 방학을 이용하여 미리 수업을 들어, 이후 취업을 준비하는데 여유 있는 시간을 확보하는 것에 중점을 두는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과를 통하여 향후 계절학기의 변화 및 발전에 기초자료로 활용되기를 기대한다.

This study investigated the perspectives of university students concerning their seasonal semester. Q methodology was used, and 33 statements were derived, selected by means of a comprehensive review and revision process. For the P sample, 37 university students were selected, who were taking a seasonal semester in D university. Then, Q principal component factor analysis was used for the analysis for this study. The results indicated four perspectives on seasonal semester. These groups were as follows: Type One, practical pursuit type, includes those who focus on getting credits for graduation; Type Two, self-development pursuit type, includes those who have interests in studying in diverse areas and developing their competencies for work; Type Three, academic complementary pursuit type, includes those are interested in a new system for studying as like on-line classes for taking seasonal semester as complementary classes; Type Four, time-guranteed pursuit type, includes those who want to save time for preparing for getting a job. The study’s findings develop seasonal semester for university students and provide meaningful reference materials to improve future seasonal semester for educators in a university.
