Suicide Postvention in Military Organizations: Healing and Management

이 연구의 목적은 군 자살 사후개입 치유 및 관리방안을 도출하여 자살사고 재발방지와 부대 운영의 정상화를 도모하기 위함이다. 자살 사후개입은 자살발생 후 회생은 물론 특이한 상황과 위험행동을 예방하는 것이다. 본 연구의 연구방법은 문헌연구 및 사례분석으로 군 사망사고와 자살사고 분석을 통해 자살사고의 특징을 살펴보고, 외국군의 자살사고 예방 및 정신건강 증진 정책과 최근 학술동향 및 이슈를 고찰하였다. 연구결과 자살시도 및 우려자에 대한 치유 및 관리방안은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 치유전문가 양성을 위한 교육 및 외부전문가를 활용하며, 교육콘텐츠 개발과 유가족에 대한 치유프로그램 안내 및 연결이다. 둘째, 관리방안은 자살시도 후 개입과 차별화된 관리대책과 더불어 개인스트레스 극복 및 회복탄력성을 강화시켜 자살률을 줄여나가야 한다. 더불어 생명존중의 문화를 포함하는 병영문화 혁신정책이 지속적으로 추진되어야 할 것이다.

The purpose of this study is to prevent suicides in military and stabilize operation of a military unit by deriving treatment and management measures through suicide postvention. Suicide postvention assists in recovery after suicidal events and prevents possible risky behaviors, including continued suicidal behavior. The results of this study suggested the treatment and management plans for those attempting suicide as follows. First, it is necessary to cultivate mental health professionals by utilizing educational programs and external experts, develop the educational contents and provide healing programs for the families who lost their loved ones. Second, the management plans should reduce the suicide rate by emphasizing postvention after suicidal attempts, as well as reinforcing the ability of individual soldiers to overcome stress and strengthen resilience.
