보도 기사의 언어 정보적 유형과 특성

On Categories and Characteristics of News Articles from the Perspective of Linguistic Information

이 연구는 코로나19 시대에 뉴스 언어의 정보 가치를 확인하기 위하여 언론 보도의 뉴스 유형을 분류하고 그 특성을 제시한 것이다. 언론이 보도하는 뉴스는 대체로 사실을 바탕으로 하는 것이지만, 그 내용이 충분하지 않아 독자에게 혼란을 주는 것도 있다. 그러한 뉴스가 존재하는 이유는 언론이 자신들의 의도를 독자에게 인식시키기 위하여 언어적 방법을 사용하여 뉴스를 제공하기 때문이다. 이 연구에서는 언론 보도의 실제적 내용을 확인하기 위하여 언어적 분석 기준으로 [사실보도], [충분정보]를 제시한다. 이를 바탕으로 보도의 유형을 [+사실보도, +충분정보, +편향성]의 자질을 가진 편향적 보도, [+사실보도, -충분정보, -사실성]의 자질을 가진 사실왜곡 보도, [+사실보도, -충분정보, -명시성]의 자질을 가진 비명시적 보도, [+사실보도, -충분정보, -완결성]의 자질을 가진 미흡한 보도, [+사실보도, -충분정보, -균형성]의 자질을 가진 불공정한 보도 등 다섯 가지로 분류하고 그 특성을 실제 언론 보도의 기사를 분석하여 제시하였다.

This study classifies news articles into categories and presents their characteristics in order to ascertain informative values of news language in the time of the COVID-19 pandemic. The media generally issues news on the basis of fact, but some contents cause the audience to feel confused for being insufficient. The reason these kinds of news exist is that the media provides news by using linguistic methods to let the readers recognize their intention. In order to confirm factual contents of press coverage, this paper classifies a norm of linguistic analysies into “fact report” and “sufficient information”. Based on this analytic norm, it categorizes the types of media reports into five and presents their characteristics as follows: biased coverage with features of +fact report, +sufficient information and +prejudice, fact distortion coverage with features of +fact report, -sufficient information and -factuality, nonexplicit coverage with features of +fact report, -sufficient information, and -explicitness, inadequate coverage with features of +fact report, -sufficient information, and -completeness, and unfair coverage with features of +fact report, -sufficient information, and -balance.
