고등학교 『한국사』 교과서의 근대사 체계와 내용 분석

Analysis of the Modern History System and Contents of the High School 『Korean History』 Textbook

이 글의 목적은 2019년 새롭게 선보인 『고등학교 한국사』 교과서 중, 한국근대사에 해당하는 Ⅱ장과 Ⅲ장을 분석하는 것이다. 2019 『고등 한국사』는 2013 『고등 한국사』에 비해 전근대사의 양은 줄고 현대사부분의 서술이 늘어났다. 근대사 분량은 크게 차이가 나지 않았다. ‘2015년 개정 시안’은 예전 집필 기준에 비하여 간략하게 구성되었다. 하지만 2019 『고등 한국사』 8종 교과서 중 7종 교과서는 거의 동일한 구조와 목차 체제를 갖추었다. 교과서의 서술 내용 측면에서 살펴보면 다음과 같은 특징이 보인다. 첫째 근대적 요소의 상호작용에 따른 “변화”를 포착한 시도이다. 둘째 민족운동의 여러 흐름을 강조하되 과도한 평가를 지양한 시도이다. 2019 『고등 한국사』는 『2015 고등 교육과정(개정)』의 제한성 속에서도 집필의 자율성 및 역사교육의 다양성이 추구되었다는 점에서 긍정적으로 평가할 수 있다. 반면 교과서 체계 및 내용의 ‘획일화’ 문제는 교사, 역사학자들이 함께 고민해야할 문제이다.

The purpose of this article is to analyze chapters Ⅱ and Ⅲ corresponding to modern Korean history among the textbooks of 『High School Korean History』, which were newly introduced in 2019. Compared to the 2013 High School Korean History, 2019 『High School Korean History』 reduced the amount of pre-modern history and increased the number of descriptions in contemporary history. There was not much difference in the amount of modern history. The “2015 revised draft” was structured briefly compared to previous writing standards. However, seven of the eight textbooks have almost the same structure and a table of contents system. In terms of the description content of the textbook, the following characteristics are seen. The first is the attempt to pay attention to “change” according to the interaction of modern elements. Second, it emphasized the various flows of the national movement and attempted to avoid excessive evaluation about national movements. 2019 『High School Korean History』 can be positively evaluated in that the autonomy of writing and diversity of history education were pursued despite the limitations of 『2015 High School Curriculum(Revised)』. On the other hand, the problem of “uniformity” of the textbook system and content is a problem that teachers and historians must consider together.
