강원도 지역 중·고등학교 역사과 평가 실태조사

Survey on the Performence Assessment of History Subjects in Secondary High Schools in Gangwon-do

이 글은 강원도 지역을 연구 범위로 삼고 중, 고등학교 역사과의 수행평가 실태를 탐색한 것이다. 개별 학교의 수행평가 내용을 살필 수 있는 정보가 담겨 있는 학교 알리미를 통해서 2019학년도 1학기 시점에서 강원도 지역에서 모든 중, 고등학교의 역사과 수행평가 계획을 분석하였다. 전국 규모는 아니지만 도 단위 규모에서 사례를 양적으로 분석하였다. 분석 결과 수행평가 비율은 교육청 지침을 준수할 뿐만 아니라 중학교에서는 그 이상을 실행하고 있었다. 반면에 고등학교는 수행평가 비율이 낮았다. 과목 및 학년별로 구별해 보면 고등학교 3학년 한국사 수행평가 비율이 낮았다. 동아시아사와 세계사는 학년별 비율의 차이가 없어서 입시 요인이 크지 않았다. 수행평가 유형은 서논술, 포트폴리오, 제작 활동, 보고서 등 순서대로 많게 나타났다. 토론/역할극, 발표/관찰 등은 적게 나타났다. 고등학교는 서논술이 많았고 중학교에서는 제작활동이 많아 학교급별 차이를 보였다. 이로써 자주 활용하는 유형과 학교급별 차이를 알 수 있었다. 강원도 지역은 교사 1인이 역사 수업 모두를 담당하는 소규모 학교가 많았다. 이 점에서 대규모 학교에서 복수의 교사가 수행평가를 하는 것과 소규모 학교는 차이를 보일 수 있다. 그 차이는 여러 요인 때문에 확인하기 어려웠다. 앞으로 학생 수 감소와 학교 통폐합이 문제화되는 만큼, 소규모 학교의 역사과 교수학습과 평가의 장점을 강화하는 방향에서 주목할 필요가 있다.

This study explored the performance assessment of the history subjects at the local level of Gangwon-do. As for the study method, the assessment plans for the first semester of 2019 of 162 middle schools and 115 high schools were surveyed by complete enumeration. The results of analysis are summarized as follows. First, the guidelines of the Gangwon-do Office of Education were observed in the proportion of performance assessment and the number of evaluation areas. In particular, middle schools were carrying out performance assessments more diversely and actively than the guidelines. Second, differences by grade and subject within school level were not large, but there were differences in rates and methods between middle and high schools. Portfolios were a method that was frequently used in both middle and high schools, but essay writing was more common at high school, while making activities were more common at middle school. Third, the performance assessment in small schools has the advantages that individual students can be identified, that fairness is secured, and that feedback is easy, but it was difficult to confirm whether these advantages actually appeared. In conclusion, it is necessary to support qualitative improvement while supplementing the problems that appear in the assessment plans so that the performance assessment of the history education can be properly carried out at the entire schools.
