The purpose of this study was to confirm effect of Taekwondo training on ASM/ht2, MSI%, hand grip strength, weighted relative hand grip strength and appendicular skeletal muscle mass in student majoring Taekwondo in university. Total 60 subject participate this study, all subjects of this study were divided two groups(male students majoring in Taekwondo n=21, majoring in general 19) and (female students majoring in Taekwondo n=9, majoring in general 11). The results of this study are as follows; There were no significant difference between the case of ASM/ht2, MSI% in the male subjects group. However, in the female group, a significantly difference could be identified on ASM/ht2, MSI%. In the case of grip strength and weighted relative grip strength, statistically significant differences could not be found in both groups, but in the case of limb muscle mass, it was confirmed that female students majoring in Taekwondo showed higher muscle mass than female students majoring in general. Through this results we insist that prolonged Taekwondo training will be a good way to prevent sarcopenia.
