회계학 교육에서의 PBL(Problem-Based Learning) 방식 적용사례

Problem-Based Learning as a Teaching Method in Accounting Education

[연구목적] 본 연구는 학생중심 교수법으로 알려진 PBL방법론을 중급회계 교육에 적용한 사례를 소개하고자 한다. PBL(Problem-Based Learning)은 구조화되지 않은 특정의 문제를 학습자들이 팀별로 해결하기 위해 필요한 지식을 습득해 나가는 학습자 주도 협동학습법의 하나이다. 따라서 기업의 현실문제 해결능력을 중요시 하는 경영학 교육에 필요시 되는 적절한 학습법이라 할 수 있다. [연구방법] 본 사례는 B대학교의 중급회계 교과목의 학부과정 한국어 강의에 적용한 사례들을 중심으로 PBL교수법의 핵심적인 성공 요소인 문제개발, 팀구성, 진행 및 평가의 구체적인 방법과 내용을 수업적용사례 및 전문가컨설팅에 기초하여 제시한다. [연구결과] 본 연구를 통해 여러 가지 주제와 많은 양을 다루어야하는 중급회계수업에서도 주제에 따라 또는 수강자의 수강목적 및 특성에 따라 PBL방법론을 적용하는 것은 학습효과를 산출하는데, 효과적임을 확인할 수 있었다. [연구의 시사점] 문제개발의 사례를 소개함으로써 향후 후속 수업적용사례 및 연구를 기대할 수 있게 하였으며, 이는 본 연구의 주요 기여도 중의 하나이다. 본 교수법을 통해, 학습자들을 자기주도학습 능력과 문제해결 능력이 향상되었음을 확인할 수 있었으며, PBL방법론을 다른 학습법과 병행 적용한다면, 더욱 효율적인 회계교육 효과 향상에 이바지 할 것으로 기대한다.

[Purpose] PBL(Problem-Based Learning) is appropriate for business education emphasizing problem solving competency in reality. PBL is a learner-directed collaborative learning method where learners acquire relevant knowledge in solving ill-structured problems in teams. [Methodology] This case study shows how an innovative learning method, PBL could be applied to Intermediate Accounting courses in different academic programs. This study introduces PBL cases applied to Intermediate Accounting courses in Korean at undergraduate programs at B university. [Findings] The detailed description of critical factors of PBL, problems creation, team creation, processes, and evaluation is provided based on several years’ inclass experience. [Implications] It was found that students perceived PBL to be effective in terms of active learning and problem solving. The detailed description of key success factors when applying PBL is provided in this paper and the paper also addresses some limitations of the PBL approach.
