청각장애 결혼이주여성의 한국생활 적응과정에 대한 연구

A Study on Life Adaptation Process of Married Immigrant Women with Hearing Impairments in Korea

이 연구는 4명의 청각장애 결혼이주여성이 한국생활에 적응하는 과정에서 어떠한 경험을 하였는지를 파악하고자 개별 심층인터뷰를 통해 자료를 수집하고, Schütze의 생애사적-이야기식 인터뷰 방법에 따라 분석을 하였다. 연구결과, 청각장애 이주여성들에게 이주 전의 삶에서는 생의 초기에 청각장애를 가졌지만 자연스러운 장애수용과 건전한 장애정체성 형성이 결혼이주라는 도전적인 삶을 선택하는데 영향을 미친 것으로 나타났다. 이주단계의 삶에서는 ‘친구 및 지인 소개’나 ‘비공식적인 중개인’을 통해 이주가 이루어졌고, ‘배우자를 사랑하기 때문에’, ‘경제적인 어려움에서 벗어나고 싶어서’ 이주하게 된 것으로 드러났다. 이주 후의 삶에서는 남편과 시댁식구들의 적응지원 정도에 따라 삶의 만족도에 큰 차이를 보였고, 청각장애로 인해 이중문화와 언어 습득 등에서 심각한 어려움을 보였다. 연구결과를 토대로 이 연구는 젠더차별과 장애로 인한 이중차별에 놓여있는 청각장애 이주여성을 위해 적응지원제도가 필요하고, 배우자의 적응이해교육이 필요함을 강조하였다.

This study attempted to find out what experiences four married migrant women with hearing impairments had in the process of adjusting to life in Korea. In order to achieve this research purpose, data were collected through individual in-depth interviews, and analyzed according to Schütze s life history interview method. As results of the study, it was found that migrant women with hearing impairments had hearing impairments at the beginning of their lives, but natural disability acceptance and disability identity were found to have an effect on choosing a challenging life of marriage migration. In the stage of the immigration, it turned out that migration was accomplished through “introduction of friends”or “informal intermediaries,” and “love to their spouses” or “motivations of getting out of financial difficulties”. In the stage of post-migration life, there were big differences between migrant women’s life satisfaction according to the degree of adaptation support of the husband and parents in-laws. Serious difficulties for migrant women were seen in biculturalism and language acquisition due to hearing impairment. Based on the analytical results, this study pointed out the lack of an adaptation support system for migrant women with hearing impairments, and suggested that education to help spouses understanding of adaptation is necessary.
