This study aims to examinate the attitude of Chinese newspaper and magazine towards Korean National Movement in the 1920s. Chinese press reports first showed pity for Korea, or portrayed Korea’s failure to secure its sovereignty as a lesson to China. However, since the early 1920’s, the Japanese infringement on Chinese sovereignty becomes severer. As a sense of crisis grew, Chinese press began to call for the effective Korean-Chinese alliance against Japan. Decisive factors of the attitude change of Chinese press reports were the First United Front of 1924 and the Northern Expedition of 1926. The idea of Korea-Chinese alliance was related with the coalition of the Left and the Right. Also, the Northern Expedition was a node and a crucial turning point of the Sino-Korean alliance. In the 1930s, the idea of Sino-Korean alliance was accomplished during the Fifteen Years’ War; anti-Japanese armed struggle of Korean and Chinese in Manchuria attests this.
