코로나19 이후 시대 증언의 탈육화와 성육화

Excarnation and Incarnation of Witness in the Era of Post-COVID-19 : Publicity, Compassion-Solidarity, and Missional Ecclesiology

본 논문은 코로나19 이후 시대 한국 교회가 직면한 선교적 도전과 위기를 고찰하고, “선교적 교회론”(missional ecclesiology)에 근거해서 공공성 회복을 위한 대안적인 방향을 모색하는 데 목적이 있다. 현대 교회가 직면한 본질적 문제인 기독교 증언의 탈육화와 사사화 현상의 원인을 규명하고, 공적 영역에서 게토화된 신앙 공동체의 한계와 복음의 공적 정체성을 논의한다. 이후 공공 신학을 토대로 증언의 사회적 자리를 밝히고, 특별히 “연민-연대”의 선교를 통해 교회가 어떻게 재난 시대 “타자와 함께 하는 존재”로 표현될 수 있을지 살펴본다. 구체적인 대안적 신앙 공동체 건설을 위한 선교신학적 준거 틀로 선교적 교회론의 특징과 의미를 고찰한다. 본 연구는 선교적 교회가 지향하는 하나님 나라 운동을 강조하면서 기존 교회 성장 운동의 패러다임에서 파생하는 문제점들을 비판한다. 아울러 목회 현장에 접목시킬 수 있는 변혁적 표징을 살펴보고, 기존 교회의 선교적 구조와 인식 틀을 전환시킬 방향성에 대해서 제시한다. 팬데믹의 위협 가운데 선교적 교회는 하나님 나라를 향한 성육신적 선교를 구현하고, 생명 살림의 대안 공간으로 위치하여 공적 책무를 상호 보완하는 데 기여할 것이다.

This article aims to examine alternatives for recovering public witness on the basis of “missional ecclesiology” while diagnosing missional challenges and crises Korean churches face in the Post-Covid-19 era. It investigates several causes of excarnation and privatization of Christian witness as an essential matter of faith communities and discusses the limits of their isolated conditions in a public sphere and the rediscovered public identity of the gospel. Dealing with social dimensions of witness from a viewpoint of public theology, it attempts to revisit how churches with public emotion of “compassionsolidarity” can be truly represented as “the churches with others” in this time of coronavirus disaster. Specifically, missional ecclesiology will be employed as a missiological framework of rebuilding alternative faith communities. This research emphasizes that the ultimate task of missional churches is founded upon the movement of the Kingdom of God and criticizes fundamental problems of a traditional paradigm of the church growth movement. Furthermore, it provides signposts for transforming missional structures and recognitions of established churches, thereby looking at their possible applications to ministerial situations. In the pandemic threat, missional church can contribute to the embodiment of the Kingdom of God in the current setting of life in an incarnational way and to accomplish public responsibility of churches as alternative spaces for sustaining communal life.
