The potters of Bunwon were belonged to government in Joseon Dynasty. They had been transmitted from generation to generation. They were 380 people who were composed of professional sectors. They received wage from the government. Their wage was paid by the cloth that received from local potters. The potters of Bunwon organized group and elected a leader. They called the leader Byunsoo(邊首) After opening the port, the government had to restructure in 1883. The government transferred Bunwon to private company and dismissed some laborers. The potters of Bunwon were belonged to the government, but they received the command of private company. Dualistic system that was different from belonging and commanding was weakened subordination to the government. The potters of Bunwon resisted plunder of powerful family. They became a member of Donghak(東學) and took part in the Peasants’ War. After some time, the most of them withdrew the organization of Donghak because of the government’s coercion.
