Anti-Japanese Independence Movements by Cho Seong-hwan(1875∼1948)

The purpose of this thesis is to make concrete track for achievements and activities by Cheongsa Cho Seong-hwan who performed independent movements at home and in China, Russia, Manchuria, and like places from the Korean Empire age to the pre-Liberation times in order to examine characteristics and significance of his independence movements. Cho s anti-Japanese independence movements aimed at independence wars. To do this, he emphasized cooperation with the international society. However, he believed that it was necessary to secure one s own capacity in order to get assistance from the international society. To lay a foundation for independence wars, he made efforts to stabilize Korean society in Manchuria and Russia. On this ground, he organized an independence force group and continuously proceeded with unification of independence movement circles.
