This article is an introductory inventory to documents of the American political advisers to Korea in the late 19th century and the early 20th century, focusing mainly on C.W. LeGendre, C.R. Greathouse, and S.F. Sands’ historical papers. C.W. LeGendre was an adviser to the Korean Foreign and Royal Household Bureau where he engaged in the Korean-Japanese Fishery Agreement and the Stoppage of Grain. Thus the main bulk of his correspondence, notebooks, manuscripts reflect these activities. Letterbooks, Correspondence and Memoranda; the Papers of Charles W. LeGendre are kept in Library of Congress in Washington, Call Number: G7910 1870. L3 Vault. C.R. Greathouse was an adviser to the Korean Foreign and Law Bureau. Unfortunately his manuscripts don’t seemed to exist except some folders in Kujanggak(The Royal Library of Chosen Dynasty). This papers are mainly on the Korean-Japanese Fishery Agreement and the Stoppage of Grain in 1890’s. W.F. Sands was an adviser to the Royal Household of Korea. The mail bulk of correspondence, notebooks, manuscripts reflect his life as a career diplomat in Japan, Korea, and Central America, 1896-1910; business man with international connections, 1911-1922; teacher of history and diplomacy at the School of Foreign Service Georgetown University, 1925-1937; and author of two books and many articles on political and foreign affairs. Sands Papers are kept in Archdiocesan Historical Center, Philadelphia, Call Number: MC 36, 2000.25, 2000.029 and 2000.039.
