Purpose - The purpose of this study is to analyze the influence of industry-academia-research cooperation on the dynamic capabilities of firms and the effect of dynamic capabilities on competitive advantage. Design/Methodology/Approach - Based on the existing empirical research on cooperation between organizations and a dynamic capabilities perspective, a research model was developed on the relationship between industry-academia-research cooperation, absorptive capability, innovative capability, adaptive capability and competitive advantage. The data for the empirical analysis were obtained through a questionnaire survey conducted on Daedeok Innopolis firms, and partial least squares (PLS) regression was used for hypothesis testing. Findings - It was found that as industry-academia-research cooperation increased, the firm’s absorptive capability and adaptive capability also increased. Meanwhile, it was confirmed that the firm’s adaptive capability and innovative capability enhance a firm’s competitive advantage. On the other hand, it was found that industry-academia-research cooperation indirectly affects innovative capability through absorptive capability, and absorptive capability indirectly affects competitive advantage through innovative capability and adaptive capability. Furthermore, it was determined that industry-academia-research cooperation contributes to enhancing the firm’s dynamic capabilities, and such firm’s dynamic capabilities become a source of competitive advantage. Research Implications - Industry-academia-research cooperation improve a firm’s dynamic capabilities. Moreover, dynamic capabilities are key in enhancing competitive advantage.
