Purpose - The purpose of this study is to examine the direction of the export supporting polices for the medical devices by deriving the priorities of the current export policies. Design/Methodology/Approach - This study employed AHP (Analytic Hierachy Process) to draw up the priorities of support policies for medical devices export. The classified factors were evaluated based on a survey of small and medium-sized medical device manufacturing companies in the Daegu. Findings - This study found that the most important factors requiring support policies were marketing. In order to respond to this priorities based on the following factors, first, customized marketing consulting is required. Second, corporate demand-type support is needed in technology development. Third, licensing and technical support are needed to cope with trade technology barriers. Finally, mid and long-term HR training and management systems are needed. Research Implications - This study presents the efficient management and operation directions of each policy for medical devices manufacturing SMEs in Daegu. The result of this study might help policy makers to support the development of the medical device industry in Korea.
