Effects of a One-Person Beauty Company Entrepreneur’s Competence on Management Performance

This study attempted to provide basic data for strategy planning and marketing with a goal of improving both financial and non-financial business performances of One-Person Beauty Company Entrepreneur in cosmetology by investigating differences in entrepreneurial competencies and business performances by the One-Person Beauty Company Entrepreneur general characteristics in cosmetology and analyzing the effects of the sub-variables of entrepreneurial competencies (psychological traits, skills, business management capability) on business performances. A questionnaire survey was performed against a total of 300 One-Person Beauty Company Entrepreneur in Busan and Gyeongsangnam-do from April 15 to May 10. Among the collected data, 265 copies were used for final analysis. The study results found the followings: First, according to analysis of differences in entrepreneurial competencies by demographic characteristics, ‘marketing competence’ was the highest among those in their 30s. In high-educated entrepreneurs, all entrepreneurial competencies (psychological traits, skills, business management capability) were high. Among those who had experience of running business prior to the start of the business, ‘desire for achievement’ and ‘skills’ were high. Second, in terms of the effects of entrepreneurial competencies on business performances, psychological traits and skills revealed no direct influence while business management capability showed a direct effect on business performances.
