FDM 3D 프린팅을 적용한 네일아트 디자인 작품 개발

Development of Nail Art Design Works with FDM 3D Printing

  • 240

The combination of 3D printing technology and nail art has produced various styles. At the same time, the technology can be used to express diverse personalities according to consumer desires through low-volume, high-variety production. Since it can also handle complicated productions, which couldn’t be done manually, there have been a lot of studies on the usage of 3D printing. The goal of this study is to develop mandala-patterned nail artworks, using FDM 3D printing. For this, the study reviewed 3D printing, nail part, and mandala. Specifically, this study attempted to suggest how to design and produce nail tips and objects, using AUTODESK Fusion 360. In addition, it proposed three different works based on process and color. The 3D printing-based expression method showed the uniqueness of the patterns with engraving/carving techniques and produced 3D effects accordingly. To express the flow of energy delivered by mandala figures, round, butterfly, and feather patterns were created. The works represented the balance, aesthetics, spirituality, and rhythm of mandala. 3D printing-based nail art is a technique that can satisfy creativity, uniqueness, and formative aspects. It has confirmed the possibility of generating diverse nail art objects. In particular, as it can secure customization and diversity, which have never been found in conventional methods, it is anticipated that diverse modeling attempts would be very helpful in advancing 3D printing nail art.
