<G&#252;eros>에 재현된 멕시코 대학의 변화와 공동체의 파편화

1940년대부터 1960년대까지 영화산업에서 호황기를 누려왔던 멕시코는 1970년대에 들어서 정치·경제적 문제로 쇠퇴하게 된다. 1994년 북미 자유 협정 (NAFTA)을 기점으로 멕시코 국립 영화산업은 할리우드 시스템과의 경쟁에서 밀리게 되며, 정부 지원으로 운영되었던 멕시코 국립 영화관 또한 외국 기업의 유입으로 기존 국내 영화 시장이 붕괴하게 된다. 그러나 살리나스 정부의 등장 이후 외국 민간자본의 투자로 상업 영화가 흥행하기 시작하며 새로운 영화 시장이 확장되기 시작했다. 이러한 배경에서 2014년도에 개봉한 <구에로스 G&#252;eros>는 멕시코 국영 영화사 IMCINE의 후원으로 제작된 영화이다. <G&#252;eros>의 감독 Alonso LuizPalacios는 대학 공동체의 분열을 통해 20세기에 나타나는 멕시코 공동체의 분열을 보여주고 있다. 감독은 신자유주의 정책 으로 인한 1999년 UNAM 등록금 인상 및 무상 교육 폐지 문제를 다루며 30년 전 멕시코 운동 68 공동체를 재사유하고 있다. 따라서 본고에서는 먼저 제3세계 영화로서 <구에로스>를 살펴보고, 영화 등장 인물들을 통해 당시 대학의 시위 집단과 사회계급에 따른 분열을 살펴보며 멕시코 사회에서 신자유주의가 만들어 낸 공동체 변화를 살펴 보고자 한다.

Mexico enjoyed a boom period in the national film industry from the 1940s to the 1960s, but in the 1970s, political and economic problems led the film industry to decline. In particular, the Mexican national film industry collapsed due to the North American Freedom Agreement (NAFTA) in 1994, and later, the Mexican National Cinema, which was defeated in competition with the Hollywood system and commercial films made with capital. foreign, was supported by other methods of state support or investment from foreign companies. Thus it began to expand abroad. Contrary to this trend, the film <G&#252;eros> is a national film supported by IMCINE, a Mexican national film company. Alonso LuizPalacios, director of <G&#252;eros>, represented the dichotomy of the community in Mexico in the 20th century through the dichotomy of the university community. The director addresses the issue of the UNAM tuition increase and the abolition of free education in 1999 due to neoliberal policies, and tries to bring to light the Mexican Movement 68 community that took place 30 years ago. This article first looks at <G&#252;eros> as a Third World film, and looks at the community changes that neoliberalism has made in Mexican society by looking at protest groups in universities and dichotomies according to social class through the movie characters.
