김해식 찰갑의 구조와 특징

A Structure and features of Gimhae style Lamellar Armor

4세기대 영남지역에서 확인되는 초기찰갑(初期札甲)은 크게 2가지 유형이 있다. 초기찰갑은 철제로 이루어진 Ⅰ식(상반신 찰갑)과 유기질제와 철제가 혼용된 Ⅱ식(유기질제 혼용 찰갑)으로 구분된다. 유기질제 혼용 찰갑들 중에서 공통된 특징을 공유하는 찰갑들이 확인된다. 해당 찰갑은 특유의 투공배치를 가지는 요찰을 사용하며, 요찰들은 모두 좌중첩(左重疊)된다. 해당 찰갑은 김해를 중심으로 확인되며, 최근 부산에서도 관찰된다. 이러한 유기질제 혼용 찰갑을‘김해식 찰갑’이라고 부르고자 한다. 김해식 찰갑은 김해와 부산에서 총 8점이 확인되며, 그 변형으로 추정되는 2점이경주권역에서 확인된다. 이 찰갑은 열 수결기법을 사용하며, 수결공의 위치와 개수에 의해 통식(筒式)으로 수납하여 부장하는 방법이 불가능하고, 펼쳐서 부장하는 평식(平式) 부장방법을 사용한다. 그리고 횡결기법으로 횡결 제4기법을사용하는데, 이는 김해식 요찰의 투공배치에 최적화된 연결기법이다. 경주권역에서 확인된 2점의 찰갑은 이러한 김해식 찰갑과 유사한 구조와 특징을 보여준다. 다만, 요찰의 투공배치와 중첩양상이 다르다. 경주권역의 찰갑이 출토된 각유구는 김해·부산과 깊은 관련성을 가진 것으로 보이며, 이를 바탕으로 볼 때, 경주권역의 찰갑들은 김해식 찰갑의 변형(變形)에 해당한다고 볼 수 있다. 이러한 김해식 찰갑의 분포범위를 중심으로 볼 때, 4세기 금관가야의 지표적인 갑옷으로 볼 수 있다.

There are two main types of Early Lamellar Armor in the Yeongnam area of the 4th century. The initial seal is divided into Style I, which consists of iron, and Style II, which combines organic and iron. Among Style Ⅱ Lamellar Armor that share common characteristics are identified. Use a Waist-side Scale with a unique hole layout, and the Style Ⅱ Lamellar Armor, in which all of Waist-side Scale are left-overlaped, is identified. The Style Ⅱ Lamellar Armors are identified around Gimhae, and are also recently observed in Busan. This Style Ⅱ Lamellar Armor is called Gimhae Style Lamellar . A total of eight pieces of the Gimhae Style Lamellar will be identified in Gimhae and Busan, and two Lamellars will be identified in the Gyeongju area, which is believed to be a variation. This Lamellar uses a Lineconnection technique, and it is not possible to store the Lamellar like a Barrel according to the location and number of Scale holes. Also, the 4th Width-connection technique is used as a transverse technique, which is optimized for the deployment of the Gimhae-Busan Style Waist-side Scales. Two Lamellars are observed in Gyeongju area, similar to the Gimhae style Lamellar, which has this structure and characteristics. However, the placement of the holes of Scales is slightly different, and the overlap of the Scales are Central-overlaped. Each of the relics excavated from Lamellar appears to be deeply related to Gimhae and Busan, which can be seen as a variant of the Lamellar in the style of Gimhae-style. These Gimhae Style Lamellar can be seen as representative armor of Geumgwan Gaya in the 4th century.
