근대 관련 한자어 수록 양상을 통해 본 개화기 교과서의 근대성 양상 연구

A Study on the Modernity of Textbooks in the Period of Modernization through the Forms of Chinese Characters : Focused on ‘國民小學讀本’ (1895), ‘新訂尋常小學’ (1896), and ‘初等女學讀本’ (1908)

In this school, the Chinese characters related to modern times were analyzed and described for ‘國民小學讀本’(1895), ‘新訂尋常小學’(1896), and ‘初等女學讀本’(1908), which were the first history textbooks for women. As a result, the three textbooks in the period of enlightenment were able to reveal differences in the modernity of modern Chinese words. In other words, we can guess that the first modern textbook in our country, “國民小學讀本,” deals with modern-day literature in the most affluent manner. The reason why the textbook in the period of enlightenment shows a difference in the patterns of Chinese words related to modern times is that it requires a diverse approach, such as the difference between the period, the compilationist, and the understanding of modern education. Moreover, it is expected that the concept of ‘modernity’ that was covered in the textbook of the period of enlightenment could be highlighted more clearly through comparative analysis of what modern Chinese words might have appeared in newspapers such as Independence Newspaper and Hanseong Sunbo, which had a strong nature of government gazette. This process is also expected to allow discussion on whether textbooks were conservative text compared to newspapers at the time of enlightenment. We look forward to activating the discussion in this regard.
