魏晉南北朝시기 ‘風水’에 대한 民官의 인식태도

Public and Government Viewpoint toward Feng Shui during the Southern and Northern Dynasties of Ancient China

So far we have perused Feng shui as a part of divination-fortune telling during Wei-Jin-Southern and Northern Dynasties era delving into the modes of its recognition and acceptance among the people and reigning class officialdom and the motives therein. As for the ruling class’s attitude toward feng shui: first, itwas used tosubdue the contending hostile groups or vying political powers; and second, to suppress the ’king’s ‘or ‘emperor’s spirit’ in areas divined as bearing theking’s or emperor’s spirit; and third, to give justification in relocating the capital; and fourth,to offer justification for legitimacy in the foundation of a new dynasty or inauguration as emperor. we can conclude that the people viewed feng shui as a folklore religion while the ruling class utilized it as a means to justify and bolster their reign during Wei-Jin-Southern and Northern Dynasties era.
