한국전쟁기 중국인민지원군 노획문서 고찰

Consideration of Captured Documents of Chinese People’s Volunteer Army during the Korean War —Focusing on NARA RG242 preserved by the National Library of Korea-

미국 국립문서기록관리청 RG242의 북한노획문서는 한국전쟁 연구에 있어 매우 중요한 1차 사료이다. 그동안 학계에서는 북한노획문서를 중심으로 다양한 연구를 진행하였으나 연구대상이 북한(북한정권과 북한군) 노획문서에 국한되어있을 뿐 중국인민지원군 노획문서에 대한 연구가 거의 전무한 실정이다. 중국인민지원군 노획문서의 분량은 북한군 문서에 비해 극히 적은 편이다. 국립중앙도서관에 소장된 노획문서를 기준으로 중국인민지원군 노획문서는 약 1,400여 건, 총 쪽수는 31,700여 쪽으로 전체 북한노획문서의 6.3%에 불과하지만 군사정보측면에서 그 가치가 매우 컸기 때문에 미군도 대다수의 중국인민지원군 노획문서를 별도로 선별하여 관리하였다. 그러므로 본 논문에서는 국립중앙도서관에 소장되어 있는 중국인민지원군 노획문서를 중심으로 그동안 戰史에서 소개되지 않은 내용의 문서 일부를 해제하였다. 특히 역사적 고증을 통해 문서 작성 주체에 따라 사령부 문건, 정치부 문건, 후근부 문건 등으로 구분하여 중국인민지원군의 부대조직, 적정 및 지형 분석, 행군, 전투계획, 군대부호, 정치공작, 외국어 교육, 전투보장 등과 관련한 문서를 해제하였다. 본 논문을 통해 그동안 우리가 잘못 알고 있거나 알지 못했던 부분을 수정 보완함으로써 지원군 노획문서에 대한 가치를 확인하였다.

Captured North Korean(NK) Documents, preserved by NARA RG242, are highly renowned and significant first-hand material in the Korean War studies. Captured documents are examined rather actively; Nevertheless, studies in this area mainly focus on NK Documents (documented by NK adminstration and army). Captured Documents of Chinese People’s Volunteer Army(CAVA) have been neglected by researchers, compared to the aforementioned NK documents. Captured Documents of CPVA are rare in volume, in contrast to NK documents. National Library of Korea maintains 1,400 CPVA Documents, a total of 31,700pages, which are 6.3% of that of NK Documents. CPVA documents were classified as exceptional documents by the U.S Army, due to their military significance. Therefore, this article mainly examines Captured CPVA Documents preserved by National Library of Korea, identifies and analyzed the documents which have been continuously neglected by the military historians. The documents are classified into three categories according to their subjects: Headquarter Documents, Political Department Documents and Logistic Headquarter Documents. Analyzed documents mainly concern organizational establishment, enemy movements, battle planning, poliltical propaganda, foreign language education and combat support. By discovering new facts and evidence from the documents and thus correcting the existing errors made by former historians, this article confirms the historical value of CPVA Documents.
