The Study of Perception on Inter-Korean Tourism for Increasing Exchanges and Corporation between South and North Korea: Associated with DMZ Tourism*

Purpose The purpose of this research intends to offer basic data to contribute to restarting inter-Korean tourism and exchanges. Needless to say, Inter-Korean exchanges would be a starting to build a good relationship on inter-Korean. Therefore, this study was to investigate to the perception on inter-Korean tourism, and DMZ tourism. Methods Study conducted a frequency analysis, and descript analysis. and conducted factor analysis to revealed the main sub-factors. Results Total 110 experts of DMZ tourism and inter-Korean tourism were selected for collecting the data, and were used the valid 101 survey data from them. By the data analyzing. The most highest perception of inter-Korean tourism was to be safety assurance, and making the relaxation of tension and establishment of peace. Second, the most highest perception of DMZ tourism were feeling of novelty, and symbolism, and ecological system of nature. Finally, The main sub-factors were yield with three factors: DMZ cultural heritages and experiences, inspiration on reunification of South and North Korea, and adventure/sensational experience. Conclusion The research is expected to contribute the restart of inter-Korean tourism, and increasing the concern about inter-Korean relation, and development for DMZ tourism. The limitation and the suggestion for the future studies were intentioned.
