초등학생이 지각한 부모양육태도와 정서지능의 관계에서 공감능력의 매개효과

Emotional Intelligence & Empathic Ability of Elementary School Students on Parental Attitudes

본 연구는 초등학생의 정서지능에 주목하여 부모양육태도와 정서지능의 관계에서 공감능력의 매개효과를 검증하였다. 이를 위해 초등학생 670명을 대상으로 설문을 실시하였고, 그 중 불성실하게 응답한 자료를 제외한 628명의 자료를 최종분석에 사용하였다. 수집된 자료는 SPSS 23.0과 AMOS 23.0을 활용하여 구조모형 및 매개효과의 유의성을 검증하였다. 분석결과, 부모의 양육태도가 긍정적일수록 공감능력과 정서지능이 높았고, 공감능력이 높은 아동일수록 정서지능이 높았으며 부모를 포함한 주 양육자에게 더욱 민감하게 반응함을 확인하였다. 또한, 부모양육태도와 정서지능의 관계에서 공감능력이 완전 매개를 하는 것으로 분석되었다. 이는 부모양육태도가 정서지능에 직접적인 영향을 미치기보다 공감능력을 통해 간접적으로 영향을 미치며 공감능력은 정서지능에 직접적인 영향을 주는 것을 알 수 있었다. 결과를 토대로 정서지능에 영향을 미치는 환경적 요인과 개인 내적 요인을 동시에 확인하고 정서지능 향상에 도움을 줄 수 있는 기초자료 제공과 교육 및 상담에 대한 함의를 제시하였으며 연구의 제한점과 향후 방향이 논의되었다.

This study investigated the emotional intelligence of and mediation effects of the empathic ability of elementary school students on parental attitudes. For the study, the Questionnaire Research Method was conducted targeting 670 elementary school students. The relevant 628 copies of the questionnaire were used for the purpose of this final analysis. This analysis verified the significance of structural models and mediation effect using SPSS 23.0 and AMOS 23.0. According to the analysis, as the parental attitude of parents became more affectionate, the empathic ability and emotional intelligence of the students recorded higher marks. Furthermore, the students with higher level of empathic ability had higher level of emotional intelligence and were the more responsive toward the principal fosters including parents. Plus, the empathic ability was verified as complete mediation on the relationship of parental attitude and emotional intelligence. In other words, parental attitude affected emotional intelligence in an indirect way such as through empathic ability, rather than it did in a direct and immediate way. It was also identified that empathic ability had a direct influence on emotional intelligence. Based on the results, this study focused on both internal and external factors on emotional intelligence, while proposing fundamental information that can be utilized as basic materials for the improvement of emotional intelligence and presenting implications of education programs and counseling programs. This study also discussed the related limitations of research and future directions.
