A Case of Reeducation of Breastfeeding via Consultation for a Neonate with Nipple Confusion Induced by Feeding Bottles in the Maternity Hospital

Objective: The purpose of this study is to present a case of nipple confusion from maternity hospital corrected by breastfeeding consultation. Methods: Prenatal education was done via social network services (SNS) and a face-to face meeting by an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC). Postnatal education was also done via SNS and home visit. Results: Direct feeding at the breast was tried and done successfully and the newborn overcome nipple confusion. Both the amounts and the frequency of supplementary feeding of breast-milk substitute (BMS) were decreased because breastfeeding was newly established by re-calibration. Conclusion: Breastfeeding consultation were effective for reeducation of breastfeeding in the case of nipple confusion.
