The purpose of this study was to analyze the effects of university students’ individual characteristics and filial responsibility for the parents on their ageism behavior and to analyze the moderating effect of intergenerational family solidarity in the relationship between filial responsibility with ageism behavior in order to understand the elderly discrimination phenomenon in the Korean society. This study was conducted from May 30 to June 15, 2018, for 200 university students in Yeongdong area, Kangwon province. And after analyzing the validity and reliability of the measurement tools using SPSS Win 22, I performed mean analysis, t-test and ANOVA, and regression analysis. The results of this study are as follows. First, there was a significant difference in the filial responsibility for the parents according to individual characteristics of university students. Second, there was a significant difference in the ageism behavior according to the individual characteristics of university students. Third, the relationship between the filial responsibility of university students and the ageism behavior was inversely proportional. Fourth, in the relationship between the filial responsibility of university students and the ageism behavior, intergenerational family solidarity was moderated in the negative direction. The results of this analysis suggest the importance of liberal education, convergence education and open-minded education in the educational field of universities, and the necessity of age integration and household integration.
