A Study on the Artificial Intelligence Utilization Strategies for Successful Conflict Management

(Purpose) The purpose of this study is to explore the conditions for successful alternative conflict management(ADR) based on conflict management cases using the artificial intelligence(AI). (Design/methodology/approach) Research methods are literature investigation and case studies. From the literature review, we have derived conditions for successful ADR. After that. analyzing the in-depth studies of three cases of conflict management using the AI. As a result, it reveals the implications of AI for ADR. (Findings) The recent development of the fourth industrial revolution and the development of digital technology have secured the possibility of applying artificial intelligence technology to public conflict management. We analyze three cases of conflict management using artificial intelligence technology. It shows how a theoretical framework for ADR is supported by artificial intelligence technology. If artificial intelligence technology is properly applied, evidence-based public conflict management can be reasonably controlled. Furthermore, horizontal governance can be ensured in the process of forming a panel based on untact digital platforms. (Research implications or Originality) First, extensive data collection based on evidence-based science enhances the resolution of conflict management through machine learning. Second, AI enables objective and non-face-to-face conflict management. This will contribute to the rational management of conflicts. Finally, quick interactions based on digital technology will increase the likelihood of consensus among parties to the conflict.
