Currently, most public health dental hygienists are baby boom approaching generation and now is the time when should prepare for their life after retirement. Therefore, this study tries to identify the preparation level toward retirement for successful aged life of public health dental hygienists and the effects to their organizational commitment. This study is a cross-section research which was investigated targeting 228 health dental hygienists who participated in job training held by Korea Society of Health Dental Hygienists on 2014 Mar 21st. 7 questions in general characteristics, subjective health awareness, self-respect, preparation toward retirement and organizational commitment were investigated and hierarchical multivariate regression was conducted using self report type survey. Study results showed that health dental hygienists with good economic preparation toward retirement have higher emotional, continuous, normative organizational commitment and those who have physical preparation toward retirement have higher emotional and normative organizational commitment. And results also showed health dental hygienists who are metropolitan residents and have good physical and economic preparation toward retirement have higher organizational commitment. Above results showed public health dental hygienists have higher organizational commitment level as the retirement preparation level is higher. Therefore, for successful aged life of health dental hygienists, multilateral strategies are required for their preparation toward retirement.
